I’ve got a very supportive and friendly Izzati Laoshi, and I can follow her teaching pace, which helps me understand and apply all the knowledge to complete my gongke. I can even use Mandarin in real life for small conversations with my friends. After finishing the CIC class, I can watch Chinese dramas and understand a little of the dialogue, which makes me excited to learn more. Learning Mandarin has improved my memory and focus, and even helped me heal from anxiety and MDD, as I took this class to improve myself and train my focus. It also helped me build confidence to have conversations with my Chindian friends. Overall, the journey has been meaningful, motivating, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. Thank you so much to Izzati Laoshi for encouraging me to join KMC, clearly supporting me in class, and being so helpful to new students. Her classes are fun and engaging. Our Mandarin class is fun and interactive, with Bunga Lǎoshī providing constant support and encouragement. Her lessons focus on real-life situations, so we can apply what we learn immediately. My most memorable moment was making a buyer-seller presentation. Bunga Lǎoshī made it easy to follow, and I laughed a lot at my funny mistakes. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple conversations, communicate with friends, and even improve my memory and focus. For me, the online class sessions are very engaging and never boring. Turning on the camera and having two-way audio makes the class interactive, and I truly enjoy the learning experience. Izzati lǎoshī is very attentive and ensures we stay focused. My most interesting memory is when lǎoshī calls my name to answer questions. Though a bit nerve-wracking, it keeps me alert and has improved my confidence. Learning Mandarin has brought many benefits to daily life, from communicating with Chinese neighbors and colleagues to teaching my child basic Chinese. After receiving my HSK1 result, I became more enthusiastic and determined. Overall, learning Mandarin is challenging but enjoyable and rewarding, boosting my confidence in daily use. I like that Ain lǎoshī always entertains my questions outside class hours, even on her day off, and responds with great explanations. For homework, I interviewed Chinese friends in Mandarin, and I also understand more while watching Chinese dramas. I feel proud of myself, doing something meaningful as I’m retired. I like the way Ain lǎoshī communicates with students—she explains until we understand. Keep it up, laoshi. Love you!

Classes with Bunga lǎoshī were enjoyable and fun! We were asked to participate in questioning and answering, making every class truly interactive. In the tourism field, communication skills are important, and learning Mandarin has made me more confident to communicate. Mandarin is known to be difficult, and miscommunication often happens, but learning it has helped me break down communication barriers and better understand how Mandarin speakers communicate. It’s such an honour to have Bunga lǎoshī as our Level A teacher. She is kind, patient, understanding, and supportive, making sure students were not intimidated by the complexity of the language. I will forever remember her as the person who made me fall in love with HànYǔ!

I love how the module is arranged at a pace I can follow. Even with a busy work week, I can slot in this once-a-week 2-hour class, which makes me very happy. My first assignment with a native Mandarin speaker in Level A was memorable. I asked a colleague to be my partner, and she said my pronunciation was surprisingly good! I’m still a beginner and cannot speak or understand Mandarin fully yet, but I believe I’ll be able to once I complete the course. Learning Mandarin has opened me up to a new world and made me appreciate why Chinese speakers sometimes make mistakes in Malay. I now feel encouraged to make mistakes in Mandarin too as part of learning. Supportive lǎoshī . Fatimah lǎoshī is always there to answer my questions, and both she and Angel Yeeling are super supportive, correcting me whenever needed. I really enjoy Gōngkè time and the role-playing exercises, they help me remember things easily. I can now understand simple questions, and although I’m still at an early stage, learning Mandarin helps me start understanding my clients and other Mandarin speakers. It is challenging, but with the support of laoshimen and classmates, I’m proud that I can construct simple sentences now. I would like to thank Fatimah lǎoshī and Angel Yeeling for their guidance, and Kent lǎoshī as well. Feichangganxie Fatimah lǎoshī and Angel Yeeling, and sorry for asking questions late sometimes, you always reply with clear explanations!

I have a very patient Minqi lǎoshī who is always willing to answer any questions during class, which is very encouraging and helpful. A memorable moment was making a self-recording video while reading a Mandarin script I had written, making sure my intonation was accurate. Learning Mandarin has allowed me to have short conversations with Chinese shopkeepers near my home, and I’m pleased to practice what I learned at Kunkwan. The journey is challenging but rewarding, and I am motivated to continue improving my oral and written Mandarin. I really had fun learning Mandarin with Agnes Laoshi, even though it was a new environment for me. One of my favourite moments was reading the text in the notes with other students. I can now speak a little bit of Mandarin with my Chinese classmates. Learning Mandarin has been challenging, especially with tones, but now I’m able to say them correctly.
