One of my most interesting memories was making funny mistakes, which helped me remember the right words, and also making new friends where we supported each other and had fun along the way. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple conversations, especially when watching Chinese shows or hearing people speak around me, and it feels great to catch familiar words and phrases in daily life. Overall, learning Mandarin has been challenging but incredibly rewarding, especially with tones and characters, and every small progress feels like a big win. I really enjoyed my Mandarin classes with Bunga Laoshi because of the interactive and fun learning environment. She was very kind, supportive, and made efforts to accommodate all her students, definitely the wow factors for me. My most memorable moment was taking my first HSK1 exam and getting full marks, even though I started learning Mandarin at 40 with no background, it gave me a lot of confidence and motivated me to continue. The class with Minqi Laoshi is always lively and full of energy. We practice real-life conversations and role-plays, and she’s always willing to answer any questions. She knows exactly how to engage students and creates an atmosphere where there’s never a dull moment. One of my most memorable experiences was role-playing as buyers and sellers in class. It was both funny and challenging because I had to prepare a full conversation in Mandarin and really get into the character. I even used props to make it feel more real. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple conversations and feel like part of a team, which is important in our line of work. It also boosted my confidence, and I’m proud that I can now understand what my colleagues are saying. Learning Mandarin has been exciting and rewarding, and I never thought I could learn a new language at my age, but with effort, nothing is impossible. Bunga Laoshi is very patient and always engages with every student in class. The syllabus is full of useful information, and it really helps to practice through homework. Learning Mandarin has been helpful for me as I can now understand my work colleagues when they speak simple sentences. One of the challenges is finding someone to practice with, so I usually plan earlier with my partner, and I feel more confident taking exams when I’m well prepared. I can understand simple questions and replies, and I also make an effort to improve my listening skills by following Mandarin content and listening to Chinese songs to learn pronunciation. As I progress through the levels, I feel a strong sense of achievement, even though it gets more challenging and requires more effort and focus. I’m also thankful to be learning at Kunkwan because of the rich resources and fun events they organise. Bunga Laoshi always encourages participation and is very supportive of everyone’s effort, and I truly hope she continues to teach more students as she is knowledgeable and relatable.

I love how Ain lǎoshī handles the class in a fun and structured way, with a clear voice, always smiling, friendly, and using simple sentences that are easy to understand. Memorising the Self Introduction assignment helped me remember the dialogue and speak confidently in front of others. I can now say a few sentences in Mandarin and understand a bit when people speak it. The class is fun and challenging, and for the next level, I’ll definitely enroll in Ain lǎoshī’s class again because of the happy and friendly environment and her excellent Mandarin skills.

Classes with Bunga lǎoshī were enjoyable and fun! We were asked to participate in questioning and answering, making every class truly interactive. In the tourism field, communication skills are important, and learning Mandarin has made me more confident to communicate. Mandarin is known to be difficult, and miscommunication often happens, but learning it has helped me break down communication barriers and better understand how Mandarin speakers communicate. It’s such an honour to have Bunga lǎoshī as our Level A teacher. She is kind, patient, understanding, and supportive, making sure students were not intimidated by the complexity of the language. I will forever remember her as the person who made me fall in love with HànYǔ!
