Izzati lǎoshī is very attentive and ensures we stay focused. My most interesting memory is when lǎoshī calls my name to answer questions. Though a bit nerve-wracking, it keeps me alert and has improved my confidence. Learning Mandarin has brought many benefits to daily life, from communicating with Chinese neighbors and colleagues to teaching my child basic Chinese. After receiving my HSK1 result, I became more enthusiastic and determined. Overall, learning Mandarin is challenging but enjoyable and rewarding, boosting my confidence in daily use. Agnes lǎoshī’s pronunciation is very clear, and she helped us pronounce Mandarin words properly. I always found Mandarin pronunciation complex and difficult, but she made it easier and fun. I loved singing during class, which also helped us pronounce words faster. I can now understand basic conversations and a few lines from Mandarin TV dramas, and I hope to visit my friend in Beijing someday. Learning Mandarin under Agnes lǎoshī has been much easier, and I feel lucky to have her as my teacher. I thought learning Mandarin would be stressful, but the class with Minqi Laoshi turned out to be really fun and engaging. The role plays and interactive approach made it easier to understand the concepts instead of just memorising, and she made sure everyone followed along, which really helped. The role-playing sessions were my favourite, acting out real-life scenarios helped me practise naturally and remember how to use the right sentence structures in context. Passing my HSK1 exam gave me confidence that I can continue learning, and it also helps me appreciate different cultures more deeply. I can now start basic conversations with Mandarin speakers around me. I feel excited and motivated, even though Mandarin isn’t easy, I enjoy the challenge. Understanding how the grammar works instead of just memorising makes me feel like I’m building a solid foundation to go further. I’ve got a very supportive and friendly Izzati Laoshi, and I can follow her teaching pace, which helps me understand and apply all the knowledge to complete my gongke. I can even use Mandarin in real life for small conversations with my friends. After finishing the CIC class, I can watch Chinese dramas and understand a little of the dialogue, which makes me excited to learn more. Bunga Laoshi is very patient and always engages with every student in class. The syllabus is full of useful information, and it really helps to practice through homework. Learning Mandarin has been helpful for me as I can now understand my work colleagues when they speak simple sentences. One of the challenges is finding someone to practice with, so I usually plan earlier with my partner, and I feel more confident taking exams when I’m well prepared. I can understand simple questions and replies, and I also make an effort to improve my listening skills by following Mandarin content and listening to Chinese songs to learn pronunciation. As I progress through the levels, I feel a strong sense of achievement, even though it gets more challenging and requires more effort and focus. I’m also thankful to be learning at Kunkwan because of the rich resources and fun events they organise. Bunga Laoshi always encourages participation and is very supportive of everyone’s effort, and I truly hope she continues to teach more students as she is knowledgeable and relatable.
