I really had fun learning Mandarin with Agnes Laoshi, even though it was a new environment for me. One of my favourite moments was reading the text in the notes with other students. I can now speak a little bit of Mandarin with my Chinese classmates. Learning Mandarin has been challenging, especially with tones, but now I’m able to say them correctly. Thank you, Agnes Laoshi, for teaching me and making me feel comfortable in class!

The course module is very well-developed, and Ain Laoshi is attentive, patient, and very knowledgeable. Taking the HSK exam and doing role-playing as buyer and seller were some of the most memorable experiences, along with meeting new friends. I’m now more confident speaking Mandarin daily and can interact with my customers, understanding what they say. Learning has been fun, motivating, and I can see my progress. Thank you, Ain Laoshi, for all your teachings that have made me confident and comfortable speaking Chinese!

I’m happy to learn new things with such a great laoshi, Ain Laoshi, and I always loved it when laoshi picked my name to read in class as it gave me the chance to practice my pronunciation. As a retiree, I enjoy learning Mandarin to spend my time meaningfully, and now I can even understand what the hero in Chinese dramas is saying 😁 Learning Mandarin can be quite challenging, but it’s also fun because I can use many things around me as learning tools. Supportive lǎoshī . Fatimah lǎoshī is always there to answer my questions, and both she and Angel Yeeling are super supportive, correcting me whenever needed. I really enjoy Gōngkè time and the role-playing exercises, they help me remember things easily. I can now understand simple questions, and although I’m still at an early stage, learning Mandarin helps me start understanding my clients and other Mandarin speakers. It is challenging, but with the support of laoshimen and classmates, I’m proud that I can construct simple sentences now. I would like to thank Fatimah lǎoshī and Angel Yeeling for their guidance, and Kent lǎoshī as well. Feichangganxie Fatimah lǎoshī and Angel Yeeling, and sorry for asking questions late sometimes, you always reply with clear explanations!

I like that Ain lǎoshī always entertains my questions outside class hours, even on her day off, and responds with great explanations. For homework, I interviewed Chinese friends in Mandarin, and I also understand more while watching Chinese dramas. I feel proud of myself, doing something meaningful as I’m retired. I like the way Ain lǎoshī communicates with students—she explains until we understand. Keep it up, laoshi. Love you!

The wow factor of the Mandarin class is that it can be done online and based on our own timing, so we don’t have to go to the centre and can choose a schedule that works for us. One of my most interesting experiences was taking the HSK 1 for the first time. Even with the mock exam during class, experiencing the real exam in Mandarin was quite memorable. I’m now able to understand some words in sentences spoken by my friends and connect the dots even if I only understand a few words, which motivates me to keep learning harder. I’m proud and grateful for the opportunity to learn from experienced teachers and apply my skills outside class, like understanding Chinese dramas. Xiexie laoshimen for teaching me from CIC level to Level D, and a special thank you to Bunga Laoshi! With your hard work, I’ve been able to learn Chinese on my own and deepen my understanding of the language.

Minqi lǎoshī creates an incredibly interactive and fun learning environment. The pace is perfect, and her constant encouragement makes Mandarin fun to master. My most vivid memory is struggling with tricky pronunciation in a practical dialogue. My tones were all over the place, but Minqi lǎoshī was patient and supportive, guiding us with passion. Learning Mandarin has enriched my daily life, helping me understand basic conversations, enjoy Mandarin songs, and giving me a reason to travel to China to practice. Learning Mandarin has been fun and meaningful, and I am grateful to Minqi lǎoshī for making each class engaging. Thank you, Minqi lǎoshī, for your patience and inspiring passion, I really look forward to every lesson.

Learning Mandarin with MinQi Laoshi has been interactive, fun, and very supportive. Role-playing as a buyer or seller, making funny mistakes, and learning grammar, along with making new friends, made the classes enjoyable. Learning Mandarin can be quite difficult, but Izzati Laoshi turns every lesson into an adventure with engaging conversation practices that keep us excited to learn. One of my most interesting memories was completing an assignment where I had to find a Chinese friend and even bargain in Mandarin, which was a fun and practical way to build my confidence. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand basic conversations, and I can now speak a bit with my friend. Although it can be challenging, I’m really enjoying the journey and looking forward to learning more in the next level (Hanzi Class). From CIC to Level D, I’ve had the privilege of learning with you, and while all the laoshi at Kunkwan are amazing, I truly hope to continue learning with you in the next level.

Learning in Kunkwan is very fun and relaxing, as the laoshi always keeps students engaged and patiently answers our questions to make sure we understand. One of my most interesting memories was doing the assignments, especially when we had to converse with a Chinese speaker, which helped me learn pronunciation and boost my confidence in speaking Mandarin. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple conversations, and sometimes when I watch Chinese dramas, I can even understand without subtitles. Overall, learning with Kunkwan is very exciting and meaningful, and I’m proud of the progress I’ve made and motivated to continue improving. I love how the module is arranged at a pace I can follow. Even with a busy work week, I can slot in this once-a-week 2-hour class, which makes me very happy. My first assignment with a native Mandarin speaker in Level A was memorable. I asked a colleague to be my partner, and she said my pronunciation was surprisingly good! I’m still a beginner and cannot speak or understand Mandarin fully yet, but I believe I’ll be able to once I complete the course. Learning Mandarin has opened me up to a new world and made me appreciate why Chinese speakers sometimes make mistakes in Malay. I now feel encouraged to make mistakes in Mandarin too as part of learning. Agnes Laoshi really recognizes students’ improvement in pronunciation and values our effort in class. She is very supportive, makes the lessons interactive, and always encourages participation. I enjoyed taking part in dialogues during class, and she patiently corrected our pronunciation, especially with Hanyu Pinyin, which helped me realize that Mandarin is a very straightforward language. After learning with her, I’m able to understand basic conversations in Mandarin, even though I’m not fluent yet. It has boosted my confidence, especially when interacting with Chinese customers, and I’ve even started watching Mandarin movies to improve my listening and pronunciation. Learning Mandarin has been so fun, especially seeing my progress in daily life. It motivates me to keep learning and not give up. I really enjoy the class because my laoshi is very friendly and supportive. I also like that I can interact with other students and make new friends along the way.
