The class is very interactive, and Ain lǎoshī is supportive. My first time writing and learning Chinese was challenging, but it helped me understand the language better. With more practice, it could even help in my career. Learning Mandarin is challenging but motivating, and I’m encouraged to continue. I’m really glad to get to know Bunga Laoshi. Her teaching is fun, and I can understand the lessons much better, xiexie! I can now speak a bit of Mandarin with my friends and understand some of the way native speakers talk. Learning at Kunkwan has also helped me enjoy Chinese dramas more, as I can now watch some without relying too much on subtitles. I truly enjoy learning Mandarin, and the teachers at Kunkwan are very patient and always manage to catch my attention during classes. I really appreciate Bunga Laoshi for teaching me all this while! The class with Minqi Laoshi is always lively and full of energy. We practice real-life conversations and role-plays, and she’s always willing to answer any questions. She knows exactly how to engage students and creates an atmosphere where there’s never a dull moment. One of my most memorable experiences was role-playing as buyers and sellers in class. It was both funny and challenging because I had to prepare a full conversation in Mandarin and really get into the character. I even used props to make it feel more real. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple conversations and feel like part of a team, which is important in our line of work. It also boosted my confidence, and I’m proud that I can now understand what my colleagues are saying. Learning Mandarin has been exciting and rewarding, and I never thought I could learn a new language at my age, but with effort, nothing is impossible. Classes with Bunga lǎoshī were enjoyable and fun! We were asked to participate in questioning and answering, making every class truly interactive. In the tourism field, communication skills are important, and learning Mandarin has made me more confident to communicate. Mandarin is known to be difficult, and miscommunication often happens, but learning it has helped me break down communication barriers and better understand how Mandarin speakers communicate. It’s such an honour to have Bunga lǎoshī as our Level A teacher. She is kind, patient, understanding, and supportive, making sure students were not intimidated by the complexity of the language. I will forever remember her as the person who made me fall in love with HànYǔ!

I thought learning Mandarin would be stressful, but the class with Minqi Laoshi turned out to be really fun and engaging. The role plays and interactive approach made it easier to understand the concepts instead of just memorising, and she made sure everyone followed along, which really helped. The role-playing sessions were my favourite, acting out real-life scenarios helped me practise naturally and remember how to use the right sentence structures in context. Passing my HSK1 exam gave me confidence that I can continue learning, and it also helps me appreciate different cultures more deeply. I can now start basic conversations with Mandarin speakers around me. I feel excited and motivated, even though Mandarin isn’t easy, I enjoy the challenge. Understanding how the grammar works instead of just memorising makes me feel like I’m building a solid foundation to go further. Learning alongside classmates from different backgrounds made every class interesting and supportive. I’m very grateful to Minqi Laoshi for always making the lessons clear and enjoyable, and I’m looking forward to continuing my Mandarin journey.

Learning with Minqi Laoshi since Level A has been such a fun journey! She is very friendly and engaging throughout the class, and even outside class, she supports any questions we have about the Mandarin language. One of my proudest moments was writing a full sentence in Pinyin with accurate tones. The role-playing sessions were entertaining and funny, especially when some of us brought props to act out the scenarios. What impressed me most during my Mandarin class with Ika Laoshi were her well-paced lessons, step-by-step guidance, and patience in teaching. One of my most memorable experiences was preparing for the role play assignment and performing it, along with the funny mistakes I made throughout the classes. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple conversations better as I’m able to catch some vocabulary and get the gist of what is being said. It also indirectly helps me build better relationships with my clients, as they can see my effort and become more open with me, especially the uncles and aunties. Although it has been challenging, I’m proud of my progress as I can now hold simple conversations and understand basic Mandarin. I knew nothing about Mandarin at first, and I realized self-learning wasn’t enough. I needed a proper platform, which is how I found Kunkwan. I got to meet new friends from various backgrounds and laoshi who are very helpful and supportive. Learning Mandarin at Kunkwan is really fun. One of my most interesting experiences was an assignment that required speaking with a Chinese friend. I felt shy at first, afraid of making mistakes in pronunciation, but my friends were very helpful, correcting me like native speakers and teaching me new vocabulary useful for real-life conversations. I think Mandarin is very important, as China and Malaysia are trading partners, so learning it helps me understand conversations better in both business and personal contexts. It also helps me enjoy my favourite Mandarin songs more easily. I feel grateful to be part of the Kunkwan community and always look forward to the next class. One of my favourite memories was studying Mandarin with fellow Kunkwan friends at a cozy café, where we spent the day chatting in Chinese, laughing over pronunciation mistakes, and finishing our homework together, making learning feel fun and memorable. Learning Mandarin has opened a door to a new world, helping me appreciate Chinese culture more deeply and even recognize Chinese loanwords in Malay like “tapau.” As a Japanese speaker, it also helped me bridge language barriers at work, improving communication between my Chinese and Japanese colleagues. The comprehension and understanding I receive in class with Agnes Laoshi goes deeper than usual. The pacing of the lectures is just right, on schedule without delays. I’ve learned that people from different walks of life share the same goal, even with age differences, we all want to improve together. I’m now able to understand Mandarin speakers better, which allows me to connect with their world as they connect with mine. It’s like solving a puzzle I’m eager to understand, take apart, improve, and integrate into my life.
