I’ve got a very supportive and friendly Izzati Laoshi, and I can follow her teaching pace, which helps me understand and apply all the knowledge to complete my gongke. I can even use Mandarin in real life for small conversations with my friends. After finishing the CIC class, I can watch Chinese dramas and understand a little of the dialogue, which makes me excited to learn more. Learning Mandarin has improved my memory and focus, and even helped me heal from anxiety and MDD, as I took this class to improve myself and train my focus. It also helped me build confidence to have conversations with my Chindian friends. Overall, the journey has been meaningful, motivating, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. The Mandarin class has clear and easy-to-understand pronunciation, which makes learning much smoother. The lessons are interactive, fun, and include real-life scenarios that help us apply what we’ve learned. The friendly laoshi and supportive classmates also create a very positive and encouraging environment. One of my favourite experiences was making new friends along this journey, supporting each other through challenges, and even taking the HSK exam together, which was a big moment for us. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple conversations in daily life, whether through watching Chinese dramas, reading signs, or hearing people speak, and it feels great to recognize words and use them with confidence. I feel proud of my progress so far, and even though it hasn’t always been easy, it keeps me motivated to continue improving step by step. Learning with Minqi Laoshi since Level A has been such a fun journey! She is very friendly and engaging throughout the class, and even outside class, she supports any questions we have about the Mandarin language. One of my proudest moments was writing a full sentence in Pinyin with accurate tones. The role-playing sessions were entertaining and funny, especially when some of us brought props to act out the scenarios. I’m now able to understand general conversations in daily life, which has boosted my confidence as I love learning languages. Learning Mandarin with Minqi Laoshi has been a rewarding experience, and I truly appreciate all the effort she puts into helping us learn. The class with Agnes Laoshi was interactive and fun, with a friendly, supportive, and funny laoshi 🙂 It was my first time learning Mandarin in a group setting, and I really enjoyed it. I can now understand simple conversations and even talk with Mandarin-speaking friends. Learning Mandarin is definitely challenging, especially the intonations, but I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far. Learning Mandarin can be quite difficult, but Izzati Laoshi turns every lesson into an adventure with engaging conversation practices that keep us excited to learn. One of my most interesting memories was completing an assignment where I had to find a Chinese friend and even bargain in Mandarin, which was a fun and practical way to build my confidence. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand basic conversations, and I can now speak a bit with my friend. Although it can be challenging, I’m really enjoying the journey and looking forward to learning more in the next level (Hanzi Class). Initially, I didn’t know what to expect, and thought online classrooms might feel quiet, but thanks to friendly Ika lǎoshī, we quickly opened up. The teaching pace was just right, and we had so much fun in the bargaining role-play. Even when I forgot a line, I could improvise, and Ika lǎoshī was patient and supportive. I can understand simple conversations if spoken slowly, and I hope to keep improving, maybe by watching Chinese dramas or taking the HSK 1 exam. Learning Mandarin can be difficult, especially online, but Ika lǎoshī makes it fun and encourages us to enjoy the process despite pronunciation or grammar mistakes. Supportive lǎoshī . Fatimah lǎoshī is always there to answer my questions, and both she and Angel Yeeling are super supportive, correcting me whenever needed. I really enjoy Gōngkè time and the role-playing exercises, they help me remember things easily. I can now understand simple questions, and although I’m still at an early stage, learning Mandarin helps me start understanding my clients and other Mandarin speakers. It is challenging, but with the support of laoshimen and classmates, I’m proud that I can construct simple sentences now. I would like to thank Fatimah lǎoshī and Angel Yeeling for their guidance, and Kent lǎoshī as well. Feichangganxie Fatimah lǎoshī and Angel Yeeling, and sorry for asking questions late sometimes, you always reply with clear explanations!

I really enjoy the class because my laoshi is very friendly and supportive. I also like that I can interact with other students and make new friends along the way. One of my favourite memories was studying Mandarin with fellow Kunkwan friends at a cozy café, where we spent the day chatting in Chinese, laughing over pronunciation mistakes, and finishing our homework together, making learning feel fun and memorable. Learning Mandarin has opened a door to a new world, helping me appreciate Chinese culture more deeply and even recognize Chinese loanwords in Malay like “tapau.” As a Japanese speaker, it also helped me bridge language barriers at work, improving communication between my Chinese and Japanese colleagues. Overall, learning Mandarin has been incredibly rewarding as it broadened my mindset, boosted my confidence, and enhanced my career opportunities. I have a very patient Minqi lǎoshī who is always willing to answer any questions during class, which is very encouraging and helpful. A memorable moment was making a self-recording video while reading a Mandarin script I had written, making sure my intonation was accurate. Learning Mandarin has allowed me to have short conversations with Chinese shopkeepers near my home, and I’m pleased to practice what I learned at Kunkwan. The journey is challenging but rewarding, and I am motivated to continue improving my oral and written Mandarin. My Mandarin class with Izzati lǎoshī is interactive and fun, making learning enjoyable and less stressful.
