I’m really glad to get to know Bunga Laoshi. Her teaching is fun, and I can understand the lessons much better, xiexie! I can now speak a bit of Mandarin with my friends and understand some of the way native speakers talk. Learning at Kunkwan has also helped me enjoy Chinese dramas more, as I can now watch some without relying too much on subtitles. I truly enjoy learning Mandarin, and the teachers at Kunkwan are very patient and always manage to catch my attention during classes. I really appreciate Bunga Laoshi for teaching me all this while! Learning Mandarin with you has been an enjoyable journey, and you are truly a great laoshi.

My Mandarin class with Ika lǎoshī is super fun and lively, she makes every lesson something to look forward to! She is friendly and always encourages us to speak up, even when we make mistakes, which makes learning feel easy. My most interesting memory was doing a role-play as buyers and sellers at the end of class; everyone, including Ika lǎoshī, had a great time. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple Chinese characters and conversations, and speak more with my Chinese friends. It’s been fun, exciting, and rewarding, and I feel proud of my progress. Thank you so much, Ika lǎoshī, for your patience, encouragement, and friendly guidance—you’ve made every lesson interesting and interactive, and given me the confidence to keep practicing and improving. Initially, I didn’t know what to expect, and thought online classrooms might feel quiet, but thanks to friendly Ika lǎoshī, we quickly opened up. The teaching pace was just right, and we had so much fun in the bargaining role-play. Even when I forgot a line, I could improvise, and Ika lǎoshī was patient and supportive. I can understand simple conversations if spoken slowly, and I hope to keep improving, maybe by watching Chinese dramas or taking the HSK 1 exam. Learning Mandarin can be difficult, especially online, but Ika lǎoshī makes it fun and encourages us to enjoy the process despite pronunciation or grammar mistakes. The wow factor of the Mandarin class is that it can be done online and based on our own timing, so we don’t have to go to the centre and can choose a schedule that works for us. One of my most interesting experiences was taking the HSK 1 for the first time. Even with the mock exam during class, experiencing the real exam in Mandarin was quite memorable. I’m now able to understand some words in sentences spoken by my friends and connect the dots even if I only understand a few words, which motivates me to keep learning harder. I’m proud and grateful for the opportunity to learn from experienced teachers and apply my skills outside class, like understanding Chinese dramas. Xiexie laoshimen for teaching me from CIC level to Level D, and a special thank you to Bunga Laoshi! With your hard work, I’ve been able to learn Chinese on my own and deepen my understanding of the language.

I really enjoyed learning Mandarin with Ain Laoshi. She is friendly and kind, and I learn new words every day. I get to practise speaking Mandarin in class, often doing assignments with classmates. I can now understand a little when Chinese people speak and even enjoy listening to Chinese music. Learning is fun, and I love it! Minqi Laoshi fosters a supportive and enjoyable learning environment. Her dedication shows in the way she personally corrects my pronunciation via WhatsApp recordings, helping me learn with confidence and accuracy. One of my most memorable experiences was sitting for an exam alongside much younger students. Even though we were at different stages of life, the nervousness felt just like my university days. I picked up Mandarin as a way to stay busy, reading and learning new words, and it also makes it easier to connect with my Chinese friends, even though I still have a long way to go. Learning Mandarin isn’t easy, but it’s very rewarding. I learn new words and sentences each week, and I’m excited for the day I can understand and speak it well, making conversations much more fun. Friendly and supportive laoshi made learning enjoyable. I tried to shuo Hanyu yiqi chongwen ren, and it helped me gain confidence. Learning Mandarin has also helped me in getting a new job. I feel motivated to continue learning, and wo hen gaoxing xuexi Hanyu!

Learning Mandarin can be quite difficult, but Izzati Laoshi turns every lesson into an adventure with engaging conversation practices that keep us excited to learn. One of my most interesting memories was completing an assignment where I had to find a Chinese friend and even bargain in Mandarin, which was a fun and practical way to build my confidence. The class with Agnes Laoshi was interactive and fun, with a friendly, supportive, and funny laoshi 🙂 It was my first time learning Mandarin in a group setting, and I really enjoyed it. I can now understand simple conversations and even talk with Mandarin-speaking friends. Learning Mandarin is definitely challenging, especially the intonations, but I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far. I love how the module is arranged at a pace I can follow. Even with a busy work week, I can slot in this once-a-week 2-hour class, which makes me very happy. My first assignment with a native Mandarin speaker in Level A was memorable. I asked a colleague to be my partner, and she said my pronunciation was surprisingly good! I’m still a beginner and cannot speak or understand Mandarin fully yet, but I believe I’ll be able to once I complete the course. Learning Mandarin has opened me up to a new world and made me appreciate why Chinese speakers sometimes make mistakes in Malay. I now feel encouraged to make mistakes in Mandarin too as part of learning. Classes with Bunga lǎoshī were enjoyable and fun! We were asked to participate in questioning and answering, making every class truly interactive. In the tourism field, communication skills are important, and learning Mandarin has made me more confident to communicate. Mandarin is known to be difficult, and miscommunication often happens, but learning it has helped me break down communication barriers and better understand how Mandarin speakers communicate. It’s such an honour to have Bunga lǎoshī as our Level A teacher. She is kind, patient, understanding, and supportive, making sure students were not intimidated by the complexity of the language. I will forever remember her as the person who made me fall in love with HànYǔ!
