After learning with her, I’m able to understand basic conversations in Mandarin, even though I’m not fluent yet. It has boosted my confidence, especially when interacting with Chinese customers, and I’ve even started watching Mandarin movies to improve my listening and pronunciation. Learning in Kunkwan is very fun and relaxing, as the laoshi always keeps students engaged and patiently answers our questions to make sure we understand. I’ve got a very supportive and friendly Izzati Laoshi, and I can follow her teaching pace, which helps me understand and apply all the knowledge to complete my gongke. I can even use Mandarin in real life for small conversations with my friends. After finishing the CIC class, I can watch Chinese dramas and understand a little of the dialogue, which makes me excited to learn more. The wow factor of the Mandarin class is that it can be done online and based on our own timing, so we don’t have to go to the centre and can choose a schedule that works for us. One of my most interesting experiences was taking the HSK 1 for the first time. Even with the mock exam during class, experiencing the real exam in Mandarin was quite memorable. I’m now able to understand some words in sentences spoken by my friends and connect the dots even if I only understand a few words, which motivates me to keep learning harder. I’m proud and grateful for the opportunity to learn from experienced teachers and apply my skills outside class, like understanding Chinese dramas. My Mandarin class with Ika lǎoshī is super fun and lively, she makes every lesson something to look forward to! Agnes lǎoshī’s pronunciation is very clear, and she helped us pronounce Mandarin words properly. I always found Mandarin pronunciation complex and difficult, but she made it easier and fun. I loved singing during class, which also helped us pronounce words faster.
