One of my most memorable experiences was sitting for an exam alongside much younger students. Even though we were at different stages of life, the nervousness felt just like my university days. I picked up Mandarin as a way to stay busy, reading and learning new words, and it also makes it easier to connect with my Chinese friends, even though I still have a long way to go. One of my favourite memories was studying Mandarin with fellow Kunkwan friends at a cozy café, where we spent the day chatting in Chinese, laughing over pronunciation mistakes, and finishing our homework together, making learning feel fun and memorable. Agnes lǎoshī’s pronunciation is very clear, and she helped us pronounce Mandarin words properly. I always found Mandarin pronunciation complex and difficult, but she made it easier and fun. I loved singing during class, which also helped us pronounce words faster. I thought learning Mandarin would be stressful, but the class with Minqi Laoshi turned out to be really fun and engaging.
